Founders

Jim & Lynea Gillen

Lynea Gillen, MS, is the cofounder of Yoga Calm®, a counselor with the The Children's Program in Portland, Oregon, a registered yoga teacher (RYT-200), and an adjunct faculty member at Portland State University. She has been practicing yoga since 1973 and has over 30 years of experience as a schoolteacher and counselor. Lynea holds a Master of Science degree in counseling in education from Portland State University and is coauthor of Yoga Calm for Children: Educating Heart, Mind, and Body. To date, she has trained over 1,000 school teachers, yoga teachers, parents, and counselors in Yoga Calm and has presented Yoga Calm for Children methods at conferences in several states.

Jim Gillen, E-RYT, is the cofounder of Yoga Calm and director of Still Moving Yoga in Portland, Oregon. He is a registered yoga teacher
(E-RYT-200 & RYT 500), Anusara-Inspired yoga instructor, ACE group fitness instructor and member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists. He has previously taught and developed youth programs for the National Science Foundation and the National Sports Center for the Disabled. Jim is coauthor of numerous education articles and Yoga Calm for Children: Educating the Heart, Mind, and Body.

Yoga Calm Advisors & Trainers

Jack Hollis, PhD, is a Senior Investigator at the Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research and a clinical associate professor at Oregon Health Sciences University.  He has more than 30 years' of experience doing research on disease prevention and health behavior change

Jeffrey Sosne, PhD, is a clinical Psychologist and Director of The Children's Program. Dr. Sosne is widely recognized as one of Portland, Oregon's leading authorities on ADHD. He is the author of two practical guides for parents and school personnel: The ADHD Notebook and The Anger Notebook.

Kathy Flaminio, MSW, RYT-200, is a Certified Yoga Calm Trainer and a licensed social worker with over 20 years of experience. She is the owner of 1000 Petals Yoga and has presented and trained thousands of educators in Yoga Calm in Minnesota school districts.

Anna Thedford, MA, is family and child counselor in Bend, Oregon, an Adjunct Faculty Member at Portland State University and a Certified Yoga Calm Trainer. She has worked with a variety of populations, including special needs children and those with severe behavior disorders, and in a variety of settings, including schools, treatment centers and private counseling groups. 

Sue Dumolt, OTR/L, has worked with children for more than 21 years as an occupational therapist in the public schools and in a clinical setting with Neurotherapeutics, a pediatric therapy clinic in Oregon City, Oregon.

Ilga Paul, MS, OTR, is a Certified Yoga Calm Trainer and has been an occupational therapist with Littleton Public Schools since 1991. Previously she worked with Ft. Logan Mental Health Center Children’s Unit, with the Colorado Juvenile Justice System in a locked unit and at Craig Hospital.

Kim Oliva, E-RYT, is a certified Hatha-Inspired yoga instructor and Certified Yoga Calm Trainer. She also teaches for The Wellness Initiative which brings yoga-based wellness programs to low-income youth in Colorado schools to improve physical health, social and emotional development, and academic performance.
