Founders

Jim & Lynea Gillen

Lynea Gillen, MS, is the cofounder of Yoga Calm, a school counselor in Estacada, Oregon, a registered yoga teacher (RYT-200), and an adjunct faculty member at Portland State University. She has been practicing yoga since 1973 and has over 30 years of experience as a schoolteacher and counselor. Lynea holds a master of science degree in counseling in education from Portland State University and is coauthor of Yoga Calm for Children: Educating Heart, Mind, and Body. To date, she has trained hundreds of school teachers, yoga teachers, parents, and counselors in Yoga Calm and has presented Yoga Calm for Children methods at conferences in several states.

Jim Gillen, RYT, is the cofounder of Yoga Calm and director of Still Moving Yoga in Portland, Oregon. He is a registered yoga teacher
(RYT 500), affiliated Anusara yoga instructor, ACE group fitness instructor and member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists. He has previously taught and developed youth programs for the National Science Foundation and the National Sports Center for the Disabled. Jim is co-author of numerous education articles and Yoga Calm for Children: Educating the Heart, Mind, and Body. His instructional CD Yoga Renewal was released in 2002.

Independent Trainers & Advisors

Elizabeth DuBois, MS SPED, is a special education teacher at Cleveland High School. She has a MS in Special Education from PSU and has been teaching for over 15 years and has applied to the doctoral program at PSU with a focus on Proactive Behavior Management in the Special Education classroom.

Jeffrey Sosne, PhD, is a clinical Psychologist and Director of The Children's Program. Dr. Sosne is widely recognized as one of Portland, Oregon's leading authorities on ADHD. He is the author of two practical guides for parents and school personnel: The ADHD Notebook and The Anger Notebook.

Julie Hurtubise, MS, is an occupational therapist and a certified yoga instructor with over 20 years of experience in working with children. She is currently training other educators in Yoga Calm in the Minneapolis school system.

Kathy Flaminio, MSW, is a certified yoga instructor and licensed social worker with over 20 years of experience. She is the owner of 1000 Petals Yoga and is training educators in the Minneapolis school system in Yoga Calm.

Sue Dumolt, OTR/L, has worked with children for more than 21 years as an occupational therapist in the public schools and in a clinical setting with Neurotherapeutics, a pediatric therapy clinic in Oregon City, Oregon.
