Yoga Calm Workshops -
Integrated Approach to Wellness
Summer Intensive

Offered in conjunction with Portland State University, Continuing Education in the Graduate School of Education (CE/ED)

The Summer Intensive introduces the complete Yoga Calm system, its principles and all
60 activities from the Wellness 1, 2 and 3 workshops. These include breathing exercises, simple yoga poses, social/emotional skill development activities, relaxation/storytelling processes and emotional guidance techniques which are effective for a wide range of ages (K-12), settings, and populations, including special-needs children.

Overall, you will learn new activities, games, and processes that:

  • Reduce stress, self-nurture, and regulate emotions
  • Improve self control, concentration and imagination
  • Increase fitness, self-confidence and self-esteem
  • Enhance communication, trust, teamwork and leadership skills
  • Help with sensory integration, ADHD, autism, anxiety, and other needs
  • Help you with classroom management
  • Support your health!
The workshop also provides a supportive environment in which to observe, practice-teach, develop new skills and nuture yourself.

The workshop format, and the Yoga Calm approach, features a cycle of physical yoga, cognitive learning and relaxation/integration -- for an effective, yet relaxed approach to learning. Further reinforcing this approach will be a mid-week (Wednesday) Integration day to absorb the first half of the course with a day off to relax and enjoy Oregon's many beauties.

Held at the beautiful Still Meadow Retreat Center in Carver, Oregon (30 minutes SE from Portland International Airport), there will also be ample time for collegial sharing and dialogue, walking in parks, resting in gardens and renewing your spirit. Still Meadow is beautifully situated on 60 acres of woods, grape orchards and walking trails, close to the Clackamas River and Mt. Hood. They also have incredible food and a sauna for relaxation after yoga!

For those coming from out-of-town, Still Meadow offers overnight accommodations (double occupancy) Lunches are included in the course fee and breakfasts and dinners are included in the lodging package. There are 2 kitchens on site for workshop participants who would like to make their own meals

The Summer Intensive qualifies for 30 CEU/Clock Hours and/or 3 PSU Graduate/Undergraduate Credits. Coursework also applies toward the Yoga Calm Teacher Certification program. Certificate of training hours provided for all workshops (see accreditations).
