Yoga Calm Workshops -
Integrated Approach to Wellness
Summer Intensive

Offered in conjunction with Portland State University, Continuing Education in the Graduate School of Education (CE/ED)

Instructors
Lynea Gillen, MS, Jim Gillen, RYT, & Sue Dumolt, OTR/L

The Summer Intensive introduces the complete Yoga Calm system, its principles and all
60 activities from the Wellness 1, 2 and 3 workshops. These include breathing exercises, simple yoga poses, social/emotional skill development activities, relaxation/storytelling processes and emotional guidance techniques which are effective for a wide range of ages (K-12), settings, and populations, including special-needs children.

Overall, you will learn new activities, games, and processes that:

  • Reduce stress, self-nurture, and regulate emotions
  • Improve self control, concentration and imagination
  • Increase fitness, self-confidence and self-esteem
  • Enhance communication, trust, teamwork and leadership skills
  • Help with sensory integration, ADHD, autism, anxiety, and other needs
  • Help you with classroom management
  • Support your health!
The workshop also provides a supportive environment in which to observe, practice-teach, develop new skills and nuture yourself.

The workshop format, and the Yoga Calm approach, features a cycle of physical yoga, cognitive learning and relaxation/integration -- for an effective, yet relaxed approach to learning. Further reinforcing this approach will be a mid-week (Wednesday)"integration day' to absorb the first half of the course with a day off to relax and enjoy Oregon's many beauties.

There will also be ample time to renew your spirit with restorative yoga sessions and Still Moving Yoga Studio's acre of woods, fruit trees, flower beds, vegetable gardens and strawberry-lined paths. Still Moving Yoga is just 15 minutes from downtown Portland, 30 minutes from the airport and 90 minutes to either the Oregon Coast or Mt. Hood.

For those coming from out-of-town, there are also several B&Bs nearby and the Hospitality Inn is right down the street and offers a $60 "student" rate. There is also a kitchen on site for workshop participants who would like to make their own meals

The Summer Intensive qualifies for 30 CEU/Clock Hours and/or 3 PSU Graduate/Undergraduate Credits. Coursework also applies toward the Yoga Calm Teacher Certification program. Certificate of training hours provided for all workshops (see accreditations).
