August 24, 2024, 9 – 12/noon
Still Moving Yoga Studio, SW Portland

Connecting to the things that are reliable, beautiful and simple help young people find hope and build resilience in trying times. In this yoga class that is exactly what we will be doing.
Digital devices will be set aside for three hours while students will connect to themselves, to each other and to nature and the larger world. This will be done through social games, yoga, relaxation, outdoor explorations and preparing and sharing beautiful snacks from the garden and local producers.
Lynea Gillen, founder of Yoga Calm for Children, licensed counselor and former classroom teacher, will lead the class bringing her years of experience helping youth build resilience, discover their gifts and build joy into daily life. (Her full bio is below).
Transitions are another hot topic for this age. There are many transitions, and it can be difficult to hang on to your needs when life is going through major transitions. We will explore how to help our bodies stay grounded when life feels like it’s changing fast. And we will say goodbye to the sessions on our land at Still Moving Yoga for the last time with some time spent in our bonding places.
