Students have more to worry about than ever before, and educators are concerned about it. A recent study revealed that 90% of school district leaders have either “moderate” or “major” concerns about students’ mental health. And we know that safety—from both real and perceived danger—is fundamental to health, wellness and learning.
We often use the word safe to describe the environment that is most conducive to counseling, teaching and living life without tension, but we don’t break down the conditions that are necessary to feel “safe.”
Drawing on her decades of work as a teacher, counselor and trauma therapist, Lynea will go beyond typical trainings in creating safe learning environments, to more deeply explore this idea of safety and look at ways that we can develop a greater sense of safety in ourselves, our schools and our families.
Providing additional context, we will also explore the latest in polyvagal theory and how it operates in school settings and counseling offices.
Documentation of 12 Clock Hours and/or CEUs can be made upon request. (CEUs are provided from Yoga Calm. Please check with your licensing board for applicability.)
